My favorite venue to shoot at in Madison is the Capitol building. There are so many side and angels to explore it never gets old. Additionally I think it gives a sense of history and permanence within the photos; after all marriage should only happen once! My second favorite venue to shoot at is the Stoughton Opera House. The Opera house also has years of history along with the quite a few (But not as many as the Capitol) nooks and crannies for original photo opportunities. Not only that but where else can you get married on a Victorian styled stage in front of a dual level auditorium. Very stylish!Read more about Adam right here.

...we began attending The Art Institute of Colorado to get our degrees in photography. When Mark was held up at gunpoint in his apartment he moved in with me after hearing that I was looking for a roommate. Over the course of our two years as roommates, I fell for him and with the help of a little tequila to calm the nerves I confessed my undying love for him. Immediately after graduating we opened a portrait studio together in my hometown of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Four years later, in 2008, we got married.Read their full interview here.

Believe it or not when a photographer takes a photo of a person not only does the photographer have specific ownership rights known as the copyright but so does the subject of the photo. The Right of Publicity describes the subject’s right to control how an image can be publicly displayed or most importantly commercially used...When you ask to use a photograph, the photographer is granting you a usage license. As with anything else, that license can be very strict or liberal. It can be for a single use, many copies, a limited amount of time, in perpetuity, a specific purpose or general use. A typical usage license will normally spell out the details of what the photographer will allow and disallow. If you decide to take your image files to a local store (i.e. Wal-Mart), they may ask to see the usage license before you are allowed to make a copy. Unless you are a celebrity, there is little reason for you to purchase the copyright. A usage license specifying what you want to do is usually sufficient and less costly.

Plumbers, Doctors, Electricians and many other professions are licensed. Unfortunately, professional photographers are not. Anybody can walk into the store, buy a professional looking camera and say they are a professional photographer. Just as there are full-time photographers who pretend to be professional photographers there are also part-time photographers who are truly professional photographers. It is up to you, the consumer, to make sure the photographer you hire for your special day is in fact really a professional photographer and not just pretending to be one. That great price you pay up front could cause you a lot of heartache after your wedding.Read the full FAQ article right here.

I was shooting portraits, rock bands, and fine-art photography. I went to a wedding in North Carolina. It was a friend of my wife, and I brought my camera and a few rolls of film. The hired photographer was really cool and let me shoot along with him. I had a great time. On the way home on the plane, I told my wife, "I know what I am going to do with the rest of my life".And that's how Long Beach wedding photographer Jerry Frazier began his career as a photographer. So what can you do? The key is to minimize the amount of time you'll need the photographer. One way to do this is reduce the amount of time between the ceremony and the reception. Then reduce the cocktail hour to thirty minutes. Actually, if you can have your ceremony and reception in the same location you can really reduce the down time.Read more of Howard's tips in his recently posted WedFog article "Planning on a Budget".

I truely love the entire day. During the typical event I get to play photojournalist, still life/food photographer and portrait artist. It's great to have a little variety in your work day. But if I have to choose a favorite part I think it has to be the short period alone with the bride and groom that I get to create romantic portraits. It's during that segment of the day that I get to direct a bit, pose a bit, and apply my knowledge of creative lighting techniques to make images that "Aunt Robin" and "Uncle Rob" can only dream of pulling off. It's such a rewarding feeling when you know you've capture that perfect portrait of the couple.

I'm a total wedding nerd. No really! I absolutely love everything about weddings - the transformation from beautiful woman to glowing bride, the vows, the smiles on guests' faces, the toasts even make me cry sometimes. I just thrive on the emotion of the day and strive to capture ALL of it. My mantra is "cover a wedding like I want my own covered." And for me, the ultimate wedding photographer is candid, unobtrusive, fun and friendly, relaxed and enjoying the day as much as the guests are. So that's what I am, every wedding!

Since people make plans for the holidays early, and often have many parties and events to attend at this time of year, you'll want to send your invitations a little bit early – about 12 weeks before the event. You might also consider "save the date" cards in addition to the invitations, which will ensure that those most important to you will be able to attend.

Over the past few years, we have seen a shift in the desire to have something more interesting like on - location sessions, outdoor sessions and the increasingly popular ‘urban session’. An urban session is one where city streets and urban landscapes enhance the session, resulting in images which are different than those of your friends. Alleys, vacant buildings, city streets, under bridges, coffee shops and commercial signage are the rage. We have taken that one step further, to the urban western portrait session.
