Madison Wisconsin Wedding Photographer Adam Perkins
WedFog - Tell us a bit about yourself.
Adam - I love photography. I love making people look good. I love being dynamic. I love watching people on their happiest days. Combine all these into a mixing pot and you have TopShots.
WedFog - Tell us how you got started with wedding photography.
Adam - Shortly after the rise of digital photography my sister was getting married and I decided to help her out as much as possible by taking photos. I enjoyed the atmosphere and emotion that was running on overdrive during the day and was able to capture some great shots even being an amateur. From that point on I was determined to start my own photography company focusing on weddings.
WedFog - If we were hiring a wedding photographer today, why would we hire you?
Adam -You would hire me for three reasons: Firstly, customer service; I always return phone calls and emails within 24 hours at the latest. Secondly, personality; I’m a very easy going person who caters to the individuality of each couple. I can change my style depending on the type of photos you are looking for. Thirdly, quality of product; each photo is edited individually to ensure that every picture is strong enough to stand on its own.
WedFog - What is your favorite part of the wedding day and why?
Adam - My favorite part of the wedding day is at the ceremony and reception. I really enjoy watching the day unfold in the pinnacle moments and being able to capture it from a photo journalistic perspective.
WedFog - Name two of your favorite venues or locations to shoot and tell us why you like working there.
Adam - My favorite venue to shoot at in Madison is the Capitol building. There are so many side and angels to explore it never gets old. Additionally I think it gives a sense of history and permanence within the photos; after all marriage should only happen once! My second favorite venue to shoot at is the Stoughton Opera House. The Opera house also has years of history along with the quite a few (But not as many as the Capitol) nooks and crannies for original photo opportunities. Not only that but where else can you get married on a Victorian styled stage in front of a dual level auditorium. Very stylish!
WedFog - Care to share some of your favorite photos with us?
Adam - My first photo is right in front of Madison's Capitol building. It is a very popular place to have wedding photos taken; and against the sky can provide a very striking photo opportunity. My second photo was taken just north of Milwaukee in a beautiful garden; the couple didn't know I had my camera out and was already shooting! My last photo features a couple and their children running towards them. It was taken on a farm in rural Wisconsin.
WedFog - Any words of wisdom for the brides to be?
Adam - First and foremost do your research. Meet with at least three different photographers. Request to see full length photography albums not just the best of a particular photographers work. Viewing the entire day will give you some insights as to what you can expect for 90% of the photos. Also if a particular style appeals to you (photojournalistic for instance) make sure the photographer exhibits these in his or her galleries.
Also make sure you get along well with the photographer. If you cannot relate to and trust the person do not book them. You will not feel comfortable with them at your wedding and asking them to do things for you. After all we are here to serve you and make sure every moment is captured to the best of our abilities!
